Ever since we first met the Boy Who Lived back in 1997, the story of Harry Potter has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. I grew up with Harry Potter–I waited for my owl!–and I know that so many of you did, too.
To express my love for the Harry Potter series, I hosted a Harry Potter crochet along right here on the Two Hearts Crochet blog!
This CAL is made up of thirteen different squares worked in the mini C2C method featuring several beloved characters and/or objects from the series! 12 of the 13 squares consist of a 25×25 grid, while the last square consists of a 50×50 grid (this is the center square).
If you want to learn the C2C method or just want to brush up on your skills, I encourage you to sign up for my Graphghan Boot Camp course! This online course teaches you everything you need to know to make graphghans, and it includes a detailed tutorial on C2C and mini C2C.

Hi is it possible to use dk, instead of Aran yarn? Using a 4mm hook instead and doing DC instead of hdc
Hi Julie! That should work! You might want to do some test swatches though and then measure to see how much larger or smaller your project will be with those changes. 🙂
Of course it is, it’s just going to be smaller
Hi just wondering how you got on using dk yarn and dc instead of hdc with the 4mm hook? Did the squares come up much smaller? Or do you pssibly know the final size that one of the 25×25 squares works up too? Sorry for all the questions, i’m hoping to make this as a gift for a close friend before she leaves for university of September, and want to make sure I get it right first time. I don’t have time to waste lol. Thanks a lot Cath
Hi. You’re graphs are awesome. I was wondering if you could do them in sc instead of a c2c afghan?
In the alternative squares, the yarn names are in vannas choice, what would the colors be in red heart brand? I’m able to figure out a few but not all. Wondering if you have a list.
Could you knit this as I don’t know how to crochet.
Great question, Sue! I’m sure you could, but I don’t know very much about knitting. I know that there are lots of ways to knit from charts, so I would assume you could use these charts and knit something together! 🙂
Yes you can knit it. Each block in the pattern needs to be done as 2×2 (2 stitches and 2 rows)
Hi, my squares are not looking as tidy as the pictures and I am not sure why! I am using a 5mm hook and am just wondering if this is too big?
I am just wondering why Neville was not done.
Can you do the squares in regular c2C instead of the mini C2C?
Holy Moly, I feel like I’ve stumbled upon gold! Thank you so much for sharing these. This is my first attempt at C2C and graph patterns. I’m struggling a big but excited to push through. Thank you, thank you!
struggling a *bit. Not a big. 🙂
Looking for a Harry Potter name banner or strip for bottom of Harry Potter afghan
I would love to have the name banner and the bottom stop as well. I am making this for my daughter for Christmas. She lives, breathes, and sleeps Harry Potter!! She will have a cow when it is done🤫😁
Did you ever get the pattern for the banner. i also need it
Is there a way to do these amazing graphs in sc or hdc without c2c?
I am trying them in tunisian, then cross stitching the pictures. So far I’ve only made the big center square and haven’t started putting the picture on.
HI
I have done this blanket in Tunisian working with the graph as a pattern, and with all the colour changes. Frustrating to do as I am not good with colour changes but this is worth it.
I am doing it in sc so yes it can. The squares are more rectangular but it is possible.
The blanket is finished
Did you do a multiple of sc, for each block? If so, how many per block?
Thank you!
Thank you for these! I can’t wait to begin this adventure
Thank you so much for your patterns! This is still one of my fav graghgans that I have made!
Is there a pattern for the Harry Potter border at the top of the blanket and the castle at the bottom of the blanket?
Can someone please tell me what the finished dimensions are? Thanks so much for your generosity in sharing this pattern. ❤️
A little upset that Sirius, Remus, Lily and James aren’t a part of this….
I’m a little bit upset by all the “I’m a little bit upset that you didn’t also spend your time doing x, y and z for free too” entitled uhh… People.
Love love love this pattern! And wow, so many alternate squares too. I’m very excited to get started on one for my Hermione Granger obsessed daughter
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put into this
Where can we find the patterns to the bottom and top panels I’ve seen in so many people’s posts – the one that says “Harry Potter” and the picture is the castle.
Thank you for the pattern
Thank you for the pattern, my kiddo just discovered the magic of Harry Potter and I’ve recently tried c2c, so this will be a great adventure!!
I was wanting to know what size hook you used? Also I have been wanting to make my own harry potter crochet things but could not figure out how, and I think that your graphs would help me out on what I want to do.
which ever size you are comfortable with usually it is for an H hook. I or J would also be fine. It just depends on your preference. the smaller the hook the smaller the square.
Hello – this is a fantastic pattern and I’d like to make it for my niece. How do I transpose the pattern for a left-hander? Anyone have any ideas?
Hi everybody… I don’t quite get the unit used to express the quantity of yarn requested for every square (I’m Italian)… anybody knows how many grams a “skein” is (I’m referring to the PDF Yarnage Chart)? Thankssssss
Hi, is there a pattern for the top and bottom banner? I’d really like to add these to my blanket 🙂
Hello,
I like all the others LOVE this pattern. Thank you so much for sharing all your squares. I, like many others, are wondering if there are patterns available for the two banners (top and bottom). I’m currently making this for my grandson and would love to add the banners. Thank you for all your beautiful work.
Diana
I would like the Banner pattern – Harry Potter, and the bottom banner also
Can this be done in single crochet
yes it can you need to convert the pattern to sc. I made the blanket sc using the 12 main squares. I used 2 sc per stitch and two rows per stich.
I LOVE THIS! I wanna make it, but I don’t want to do a C2C because I am a newbie and I still did not learn the technique. Is it ok if I do it the other way? Like do each row separately. Thanks!
Love this blanket and the patterns!
Just a heads-up,
The written pattern for the deathly hallows has an error. For row 22 it should be 8B, 1M, 3B, etc. I frogged and re did that row 3 times before I realized 🤣
I just made an afghan combining your patterns with Star Wars squares as a wedding gift to a close friend. I would love to share it with you but I don’t know how to attach a picture. Thank you for the inspiration!
