Mind + Matter Challenge – Week 2

Hello, yarn geeks! My mood for yesterday? TIRED.

I have an 18-month-old son, and he is one of the brightest things in my life. But on Tuesday night, he did not sleep. As a result, I was just plain exhausted all day long yesterday. I had to leave work early because I legitimately couldn’t keep my eyes open. It was…ugh, rough.

As a result of this supreme exhaustion, I completely forgot about yesterday’s post! So let’s start today off with the Mind + Matter Challenge, week 2!

I want to first thank everyone for joining me on 12 whole days of mindfulness. It’s so important to check in with ourselves now and then! Personally, these last several days of reflection and checking in with my emotions has been kind of eye-opening. I’ve learned that if I check in with my feelings, I have an easier time accepting them, giving them space in my life, and moving forward from them. I hope you’re having a similar experience!

I want to share a couple of photos with you. The first is a Day 7 update of my scarf (I don’t have a more up-to-date photo just yet). I’m very pleased with how it’s turning out! For anyone interested, I’m doing a simple *sc, ch 3, sk 3* repeat pattern every row, which is allowing the fabric of my scarf to be thick and warm but still flexible. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s exactly the kind of stitch I have the energy for after a long day!

The second photo I want to share is a rare peek at my kiddo. I don’t share a lot of photos of him, but this one brings me such joy! I bought us (and the dog!) matching sweaters this holiday season, and my son’s daycare teacher was kind enough to snap this photo of us. Whenever I have a hard day, one glance at this picture cheers me up a bit!

Week 2: Picture Joy

This week, I challenge you to find a photo that brings you joy. It can be a new photo or one from your past. It doesn’t need to be a photo of yourself or even of a person—if there’s a meme you just love or a picture of a favorite place, that’s wonderful!

If you feel up to it, share it on social media or with a friend! You can even share them in the comments of this post, if that resonates with you.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember happy times, and I’ve found that one of the best ways to remind myself of those moments is to keep photos around my home and workplace. (No really, they’re everywhere.) As we focus on our feelings and try to find more joy in our lives, I invite you to try hanging up a favorite picture or two in places you frequent. Over this next week, look at that photo. I hope it sparks your day with joy!

Side note: If you’re like me and you love to have photos up, check out the Shutterfly app! You can get free 4×6 prints (just pay S/H). This is not a promo—I just really like their app! I just ordered a photo calendar magnet to hang above my desk, and I’m excited to put it up!

Remember to take care of yourselves, friends!
