Happee Birthdae Harry!

Today is one of my favorite days–it’s Harry Potter’s birthday!

I love this day because it brings me back to when I first became entranced by the Harry Potter universe. After all, the magic really started once Hagrid broke down that shack door, right?

You may have heard that we’ll be starting a new set of mini amigurumi dolls–and this time, we’re doing characters from the magical world of Harry Potter!

The pattern for The Boy Who Lived has already been sent to our amazing testing team, so I hope to have that first Mini HP Ami pattern available on the blog in a couple of weeks. What do you think? (Please excuse the cell phone picture!)

I really love how he turned out, don’t you? His pattern will require some basic embroidery skills (you’ll need to stitch on his glasses and his lightning bolt scar), but that’s not too difficult. Pro tip: use embroidery floss, and make sure you have a good sharp-ish needle–preferably one with a bent tip!

I didn’t get a lot of crochet time this weekend. We had some friends over for dinner on Saturday night, and I spent all day Saturday cleaning house. My kitchen finally got that deep-clean I’ve been threatening to give it! It looks great, but I was so tired on Sunday that I pretty much just sat around and watched The Office on Netflix.

However, I was able to work a little bit on a mystery project that I’ve had in mind for a while now. This project will be a surprise for now, but I can say that it’s turning out GREAT! ! I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I can tell you that they are a set of three and they are geeky in nature! Any guesses?

I hope to share these patterns as a set in November, so you’ll have lots of time to make them before Christmas.

The project in the photo is almost ready to be put together; you can’t really tell by this photo, which was taken before I had made some other pieces. My hope is to make the last couple of pieces tonight and then figure out how to put it all together! Maybe I’ll share a sneak peek photo when it’s all done!

In other news, one of my coworkers has a birthday today, so we’re celebrating with a Harry Potter-themed birthday celebration. We have floating candles and everything! It’s going to be pretty fun.

I hope everyone is having a great Monday so far. Happy crafting!

  1. Love this! Your Harry Potter blanket is still on my amazingly huge list of projects to do, but I’m sure I’ll find time for Harry Potter themes amigurumi! 😍

  2. Looking forward to your Harry Potter figures. My granddaughter is into Harry, and I was looking for little characters. Thanks.

  3. 🙂
One question, how do you chose your testing team? do you have a spot for an spanish girl?
