The As-We-Go Stripey Blanket

I am so incredibly excited about this project. So excited, in fact, that I started as soon as my yarn arrived in the mail!

Many of you know that I am scrambling to make/finish blanket projects for all of my siblings by Christmas. I designed the Harry Potter CAL for my eldest sister, the Princess & Villains CAL for my youngest sister, the Nintendo C2C Blanket for my eldest brother, and the Dino CAL for my youngest brother.

And then I got married and decided I needed to make a blanket for my sister-in-law. Thank goodness Mr. M. only has one sibling!

My sister-in-law and I like the same kinds of things–pretty, subdued colors, simple patterns, etc. I searched the internet for the perfect pattern, and I eventually found this amazing As-We-Go Stripey Blanket from Not Your Average Crochet.

This project is 131 rows of beautiful goodness. Following the designer’s recommendations (and all of your lovely advice!), I decided to make my own version of this blanket using Stylecraft Special DK yarns. You can see a full list of colors here, but I decided on the following colors:

  • Graphite (1063) – 4 skeins (this is my border color)
  • Silver (1203) – 3 skeins
  • Storm Blue (1722) – 3 skeins
  • Sage (1725) – 3 skeins
  • Parchment (1218) – 3 skeins

This is my first time using Stylecraft Yarns, and I cannot contain my love for the Special DK. This may be my new favorite yarn–and that’s saying a lot! And best of all, it only took about a week and a half to ship. That’s pretty good, since this yarn traveled to me from overseas!

And perhaps the best part of this project is the pattern itself. This pattern is well-designed, well-written, and full of incredibly detailed photos. There’s even a PDF version with photos AND a version without photos!

I’m already 8 rows into this project, and it’s all that I want to work on. The colors are gorgeous, and it’s actually pretty quick to work up–I did all 8 rows in one night!

If you’re looking for a gorgeous, simple project, I encourage you to join me and check out this As-We-Go Stripey Blanket. If I can do it, you can too!

Happy crafting!! <3 <3
