Coming Soon: The Star Wars CAL!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

If you’ve read my “Upcoming CALs” page, then you probably already know that we will be having a Star Wars crochet along from April to May this year. Excited? Me too!

This CAL will consist of a center panel (40 blocks x 50 blocks), two side panels (11 blocks x 80 blocks), and six squares to go along the top and bottom (20 blocks x 20 blocks).

What stitch will this be worked in? I’m not sure yet. Probably C2C in HDC. Possibly straight HDC. Either way, I will be releasing graphs for each panel just as I have for our other CALs (written instructions will be included).

The mystery squares below are divided into two sections: the light side and the dark side. (Did you expect anything else?)

Who (or what) would you like to see in the squares for the light side? The dark side? Leave your suggestions in the comments!

Voting on the options for these squares will begin soon!

And what’s with that starry background? I’ve decided to use a new brand of yarn, which I know to be a crafter favorite: Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn! I plan to use their I Love This Metallic Yarn in black. I worked up a swatch of this yarn against their I love This Yarn (non-metallic) in yellow, and the result was just what I wanted! (As this project will be gifted to my six-year-old brother, I know he’d insist upon the “stars”!)

This CAL will also have a super nifty alternate center panel! What do you think?

Overview 2

The Star Wars CAL will begin in April 2016 (date still TBD).

  1. Omg! Omg! Omg!
    So. Much. YES!!!!!!
    For my vote:
Dark side = Darth Vadar, the Death Star and the emperor or a tie fighter
Light side = Luke, Han, Leia (Yoda, Obi Wan, or an X-wing). How to decide?

  2. I hunk I might have to make this for my son! He is 10 and I know he would love it!

  3. Sounds great!! I voted already but I do love that starry night idea. Will be keeping an eye out for that yarn! Right now I am knee deep in Harry Potter.
