Hello, crafters!
I’ve been a little lackadaisical with my posting this week, but I had a good excuse: I was busy planning a tea party for my office to celebrate one of my coworkers, which meant paper crafts, tea sandwich making, and – of course – crochet!
When it comes to some projects, I have a terrible time getting the fitting right. As I have yet to sit myself down and figure out my own tried-and-true crochet cup cozy pattern, I decided to go looking for one…
And I found just the thing. It’s the Grumpy Octopus Coffee Cup Cozy pattern from Twinkie Chan, available as a free pattern on Ravelry. The pattern was easy to follow and is super, super adorable.
Because I was looking for a cup cozy pattern to celebrate my British coworker, I opted to exclude the parts of the pattern that made the grumpy octopus (though I think they’re fantastically grumpy) and chose instead to wing it and crochet a Union Jack patch to sew onto the cozy itself.
The result was simply brilliant! My stitches may have been a bit crooked, my sewing imperfect, but my coworker just loved it. My favorite part about the pattern? It fits that cold cup perfectly.
Need a cup cozy? Give this pattern a try! The fit is perfect, the octopi are simply awesome–what more can you ask for? Happy crafting!
